Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics was founded in 1971; its structure includes 3 chairs. Faculty offers around 5 educational programs for bachelors and masters. The faculty has around 700 students and 60 lecturers.

Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics cooperates with Yerevan Computer Research Institute and the Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems of NAS RA, being the main provider of highly qualified personnel for these organizations. The faculty has close scientific ties with M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russian Academy of Sciences, A. Dorodnitsin Counting Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, A. Steklov Mathematical Institute, the University of Trier. Staff and postgraduate students defend their dissertations in the prestigious Armenian and Russian centers.
Specialists work at different organizations in a number of countries, academic and research institutes, higher educational institutions, public and governmental organizations, IT companies, banks, etc.
