He has authored 11 books and more than 150 scientific articles. Professional Membership Head of the Scientific Council of the Institute of History of the NAS RA. Headof the professional council 004 on History of Armenia, functioning at the Institute of History. Member of the scientific councils of the NAS RA, Institute of Oriental Studies, YSU Council, the Faculty of History, Yerevan History Museum and of the editorial staff of several research journals (Herald of the Social Sciences, Kantegh, Chronicle of Armenian Archives, etc.). Languages Armenian, Russian, Georgian, German Awards Received AshotMelkonian was awarded a “MovsesKhorenatsi” medal as per the RA President’s Decree as of 8 October 2003 and a medal for active participation in the events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide as per RA Prime Minister’ decree as of 2005. He was also awarded other medals (YSU, Yerevan Medical and Pedagogical Universities’ gold medals, GareginNzhdeh, Fridtjof Nansen, AkselBakunts medals).
