The speaker of the meeting was Dr. Flora Keshgegian. Dr. Keshgegian taught at Women’s Studies and Feminist Theology at Brown University (USA). For many years Dr. Keshgegian has been involved in women’s activities of several kinds including providing support for women who have been the victims of sexual violence.
During the meeting those present discussed the role, expectations and transformation of women in Christianity.
The event gave the opportunity to think about women’s contribution and influence on Christian traditions and theology. Dr. Keshgegian for many years researched women’s role in Christianity. She is the author of such books as “Time for Hope: Practices for Living in Today’s World” and “God Reflected: Metaphors for Life”
The PhD in Social Science, the Associate Professor of the Chair of Applied Sociology of YSU Faculty of Sociology, the co-founder of Women’s Resource Center in Armenia, the director of YSU Centre for Gender and Leadership Studies Gohar Shahnazaryan said, “This is our first discussion about feminist theology. We are going to speak about women’s role in Christianity and about how churches changes due to their influence”.
Flora Keshgegian attached importance to such discussions as it is customary to think of God as a masculine. In this regard there are many challenges to be overcome.
At the end of the meeting a number of fundamental issues were discussed as well.
Today Gagik Ghazinyan, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Hovhannes Karumyan, Head of the Scientific-Educational Center of the National Security Service, signed a memorandum of cooperation in YSU Hall after Palyans.

On the initiative of YSU Pre-University Education Department, informative online meetings will be held in all YSU faculties and institutes on March 1-5 in order to promote the vocational choices of the applicants.
