“HEN-GEAR” program, the duration of which is 3 years, was launched at YSU in 2012. The process of registration of the graduates of 2013-2014 academic year started in autumn of last year. The new portal will provide our graduates with the opportunity to register in the system and after the confirmation of some administrative data of the university the registered employers will be provided with the opportunity to find relevant specialists in various fields.
The program supports Armenian universities in developing appropriate tools and methodology, using the database model of the consortium of Italian universities “Alma Laurea”.
According to the program, graduate visits the relevant webpage of the university internet portal and filling the required information, registers in the system and answers to the questions of the questionnaire which relate to the quality of education, education process, skills of graduates, preferable working area, etc. This system enables the employer to make selection on the basis of the posted CV and submit a proposal to his potential employee.
To register in the “HEN-GEAR” portal the graduate should make a number of simple operations: go to the official webpage of “HEN-GEAR” - http://hen-gear.ysu.am, select the field “Register”, then the appropriate university, faculty, degree (first level – bachelor’s degree, second – master’s degree), etc.
Employers should also be registered in the system to make searches. The registration requirements and procedures are established by each university individually. Employers, selecting the field “Register”, provide with relevant information (name, taxpayer identification number, industry, address, etc.). After registration, employers can make searches in the system, post job offers.
The partner sides of the program from Armenia are YSU, National Polytechnic University of Armenia, Yerevan State Economic University, Yerevan University of Architecture and Construction, National Agricultural University of Armenia, Gavar State University, Academy of Fine Arts and Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute. At the end of the program each educational institution will have its own database.
The system also has another important goal. If it is properly performed a statistical database will be formed, which will be used to ensure the quality of the educational reforms.
Partner universities regularly organize conferences where colleagues discuss the details of making the database, share experience and outline future plans. YSU also organizes meetings and discussions.
On January 20, Yerevan State University of Economics hosted the next meeting, which focused on the implementation process of the program. Rectors and vice-rectors of partner universities expressed the hope that it will promote university-enterprise and university-labor market ties. YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan presented the website of the employment of alumni, made at YSU, focusing on the registration process of our students and alumni.
