In 2019 Yerevan State University will celebrate its 100th anniversary of foundation. Back in September 2015 by the order of the Rector of YSU a commission was formed to coordinate the affairs dedicated to the 100th anniversary.

Chairman of the Commission is YSU Rector Aram Simonyan. It is composed of vice-rectors, deans, heads of departments, head of the Trade Union Organization, the heads of student organizations.

In recent months, on the basis of proposals expressed by the faculties and departments of Yerevan State University, a program of activities has been drawn up, which has now to receive its final approval.

It is envisaged to hold not only the university and national events, but also international: major conference with the participation of world-renowned scientists, various competitions, charity, sports, intellectual and other events, concerts, exhibitions, etc. The event will be attended by the representatives of the RA regions, Artsakh and Javakhk. The main celebration of the anniversary will be held at the Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet after A. Spendiaryan.

In addition to the celebrations the history of YSU will be published, illustrated album-book about YSU (in Armenian and Russian), a chronicle of YSU, which reflects the present and past days of this institution.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Yerevan State University new parks will be built, as well as monuments and busts mounted in Yerevan and regions of Armenia.

It is also planned to issue commemorative coins, commemorative medals, the record of YSU anthem written over 10 years ago, applying new technologies.
