The opening ceremony of the new auditorium in the Distance Learning Laboratory of the Faculty of Sociology was held today. It was named after the former student at YSU Faculty of Physics Armen Kotolyan, who died in the Artsakh Liberation War.
“It is a great honor for the faculty to have this kind of auditorium, which is named after the fallen freedom-fighter. Although he was not a student of this faculty, we are glad that we have an auditorium named after him at YSU,” - said the Dean of the Faculty of Sociology Arthur Mkrtichyan, expressing hope that this step will serve as an example for other faculties, too.
YSU Rector Aram Simonyan said that we remain true to the tradition to call auditoriums of YSU after the fallen soldiers in the Artsakh Liberation War, who were from YSU: “There are still fallen freedom-fighters from the university, after whom we have to call auditoriums. We will fill this gap. There is no nation without memory and no generation can be educated then.”
The auditorium in the Distance Learning Laboratory of the Faculty of Sociology was renovated by the “Pious Generation” Foundation, whose president, Barsegh Beglaryan was also present at the event. Mrs. Sona, mother of Armen Kotolyan, was very excited that his son is honored at YSU.
“It is not the words that will let me express the gratitude. Let me express my gratitude to the management of YSU for this. This is a great gift for mother,” - said Mrs. Sona.
The opening ceremony was attended by the lecturers and students from various faculties of the university, as well as “Assistance” organization’s members who gave the letter of gratitude Mrs. Sona for educating courageous son, who did his best for the security and welfare of the motherland.
