CANCELLATION OF POSTAGE STAMP, CHANGES IN REGULATIONS AND AWARDS: MEETING OF YSU ACADEMIC COUNCIL TAKES PLACE
The meeting of the Academic Council of YSU had 5 issues on the agenda and some current issues.

The first issues was the ceremony of cancellation of the postage stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of YSU foundation which was performed by the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan, the RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan, the acting Rector of YSU Gegham Gevorgyan, the CEO of “HayPost” CJSC Hayk Avagyan and the president of the Union of Philatelists of Armenia Hovik Musaelyan.

The second issue of the agenda related to awarding titles of Professor and Associate Professor. The chairman of the competitive commission for humanitarian sciences of YSU Naghash Martirosyan and the chairman of the competitive commission for nature sciences Khachatur Nerkararyan submitted one application for awarding Professor’s title and 6 applications for awarding the title of Associate Professor stating that they correspond to all required standards.

A close, secret voting was organized and an accounting commission was formed.

Then N. Martirosyan and Kh. Nerkararyan submitted the decisions of the academic councils of faculties related to the elections for the position of heads of chairs.

The next item on the agenda related to making changes in accounting and paying extra payments for some services. In accordance with the new regulations the extra payment will be given to the lecturers who will teach with the application of e-learning system.

The last item on the agenda related to making changes in the order of monitoring and reconsideration of YSU curriculum, which was presented by the Vice-Rector on Academic Affairs Menua Soghomonyan.

Gegham Gevorgyan informed that prior to the Centennial of YSU the employees of the university will get a bonus reward equal to 50% of their salary.

Touching to the current issues the Council decided to create a laboratory at the Chair of Telecommunication and Signal Processing of the Faculty of Radiophysics.

Besides, the decision was made to guarantee for publication the monography entitled “The Use and Abuse of Language in the Legal Domain” written by S. Gasparyan, Sh. Paronyan and G. Muradyan; “Yerevan State University during Artsakh battle of 1988-1994 (the collection of documents and materials” and “The chronology of Yerevan State University” works; to apply for MESCS guarantee for publishing the 2nd variant of “The new and the newest history of Arabic countries” book by Ruben Karapetyan as the university textbook.

At the end of the meeting the results of voting were summarized and the applications for awarding scientific degrees were affirmed accordingly.

STATEMENT OF YEREVAN STATE UNIVERSITY  ADDRESSED TO INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS REGARDING THE SITUATION CREATED AS A RESULT OF THE BLOCKADE IMPOSED ON THE LACHIN CORRIDOR
Since the morning of December 12th, a group of Azerbaijani civilians disguised as environmentalists have imposed a blockade on the Goris-Stepanakert highway (the Lachin Corridor) which is currently the only route linking Nagorno-Karabakh to the outside world. On top of that, during bitterly cold winter Azerbaijan had shut off natural gas supplies leaving the civilians in the territory without heating for 75 hours.
YSU RECTOR HOVHANNES HOVHANNISYAN AND PRESIDENT OF TIANJIN NORMAL UNIVERSITY ZHONG YINGHUA SIGNED AN COOPERATION AGREEMENT
According to the agreement approved today, the two universities will carry out exchange programs for professors, researchers and students, will exchange scientific, professional literature, periodicals and other materials, will organize joint research programs, conferences and other events.
