Representatives of the ministries of Education and Science of Russia and Armenia, as well as heads of scientific and educational organizations of the two countries took part in the 4th Russian-Armenian Inter-regional Forum “Russia-Armenia: Eurasian Economic Union: new prospects for interregional cooperation”, in the framework of which a meeting of rectors of Armenian and Russian universities was held.
The meeting was attended by YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, vice-rectors Gegham Gevorgyan and Ruben Markosyan.
The event was organized by the ministries of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia, Russian State University of Oil and Gas after M. Gubkin, Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University.
Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the RF Benjamin Kaganov noted that it is important to understand the capabilities of the two countries, the resources and the scopes of bilateral cooperation.
Rector of Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University Armen Darbinyan said that science is an area which in any case should not be subject to any restrictions: “We have wonderful examples of bilateral cooperation, which today serve as an incentive for new projects and new opportunities.”
After the meeting, an agreement was signed, under which the Association of Russian and Armenian Higher Educational Institutions was established. YSU became a founding member of this structure.
