Prior to the opening ceremony of the Center, students of the YSU Cultural Center welcomed the audience with a French song.

It should be noted that the Center for Academic Achievements of YSU was founded under the sponsorship of the University Agency of Francophonie. An agreement on bilateral cooperation was signed between YSU Rector Aram Simonyan and the Director of the Office of the University Agency of Francophonie of Central and Eastern Europe Mohamed Ketata for the opening of the Centre.

The welcoming speech was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology of YSU Samvel Abrahamyan and the Director of the Office of the University Agency of Francophonie of Central and Eastern Europe Mohamed Ketata.

Highlighting the importance of the Center’s opening, Mr. Abrahamyan noted that in October of this year the Summit of the International Organization of Francophonie (OIF) will be held in Armenia.

Mr. Ketata expressed gratitude to the management of the university for the assistance in the opening of the Center for Academic Achievements of YSU: “This Center will become a place where you can exchange views and hold meetings, which contributes to the development of the French language. Naturally, it is an exemplary institution and forms part of the University Agency of Francophonie. Your country this year is completely immersed in the atmosphere of Francophonie, because activities are not limited to one month. It is a great honor for me to manage the office of the University Agency of the Francophonie of Central and Eastern Europe. 24 countries and 109 universities are members of this organization. Our Agency is ready to support any innovative program,” - he added.

The University Agency of Francophonie, according to the work plan, will provide the Center with annual financial support in the amount of 3 000 euros. All francophone YSU students will be involved in the events organized by the Center - round tables, French language courses, discussions, film screenings and teleconferences.
