In his office YSU Rector Aram Simonyan welcomed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan Timur Urazaev, the Rector of Eurasian National University after L.Gumilyov Erlan Sidikov, the director of “The national center of manuscripts and rare books” of Kazakhstan Ministry of Culture and Sport Asilkhan Saudiv and other members of the delegation.
The Vice-rector for Educational Affairs Alexander Grigoryan, the Vice-rector for Scientific Policy and International Cooperation Gegham Gevorgyan, the head of YSU International Cooperation Department Alexander Margarov, the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Ruben Melkonyan and the head of the Chair of Turkish Studies Alexander Safaryan were present at the meeting as well.
YSU Rector Aram Simonyan presented the members of the delegation the history of foundation of the University.
“We produce 1/3 of the scientific resources of the republic. There are many problems in this field. The scientific potential is getting older and the young are not inspired to get engaged in science: salaries are low so they prefer to get into business or emigrate”, said YSU Rector.
Speaking about the problems Aram Simonyan referred to state financing of the science, the reduction of the number of students caused emigration and increased number of universities.
“Currently, the financial means come from science make up only 12% of the university budget. This rate is very low, however, it’s rather high for Armenia”, he said.
Referring to the cooperation YSU Rector noted that it must be developed in all directions: Master’s program. Postgraduate education, grants. He attached importance to the cooperation development in in the field of natural studies.
“We are interested in internationalization, students and teaching staff exchange, in development of various fields of science”, said Aram Simonyan.
The Rector of Eurasian National University after L.Gumilyov Erlan Sidikov expressed his delight with the start of cooperation.
“Today, in Dushanbe the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev met the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and they spoke about partnership development. And right at this moment that cooperation is being established”.
The Rectors decided to implement re-training programs giving a start to bilateral cooperation.
Then the members of the delegation toured about the Faculty of Oriental Studies, and in the center of Kazakhstan language, history and culture they met Armenian and Kazakh students.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan Timur Urazaev greeted the students and stressed the importance of youth education and its fundamental role for every state.
The Rector of Eurasian National University after L.Gumilyov Erlan Sidikov in his greeting speech outlined that today’s meeting of the heads of two countries gives the start to the series of bilateral cooperation.
“It seems as if we had foreseen it and only an hour after the meeting we starter developing the cooperation”, said Erlan Sidikov.
