SOCIOLOGY-A DOCTOR FOR SOCIETY
This qualification was given for their specialty by the students of the Faculty of Sociology during the student hearings for 2006-2007.

Scientific Student Society of the Faculty of Sociology organized discussions on the term papers and theses at the Centre for Regional Integration and Conflict Resolution today. The aim was to signify the role of sociology in the area of society.

Sociology, as a science, has to pass a great way for the development in Armenia. Now, here it is being used not for the very goal. You, the representatives of our future generation, have a mission to protect the sociology of becoming a tool. Many issues are to be solved in this sphere, and You must do this. So I welcome your initiative,-said dean of the faculty Lyudmila Haroutyunyan.

About 460 students study at our Faculty with only 5% present at the discussions of this type. This is not an unsatisfactory statistics, as not every student must make researches. Today reporters and authors are present here. I want to add that faculty authorities are ready to support any initiative, proposed by students,-said Deputy Dean of the faculty Arthur Atanesyan.

About 20 reports were available. Topics varied from features of sociological dialogue, sociology in legislative and political fields, to self presentation in everyday life, human rights and sociology, open society.

The report made by Arevik Martirosyan is worth of being spoken about. She had focused on the role of sociology in the pre-election period. She spoke about the sociology as a political tool in Armenia. She had prepared the review of the articles from media, where the sociologist is characterized as a person, who makes just statistics and the science of sociology itself-venal.

In the end students tried to find solutions for more urgent areas via discussion.
