THE TRADITIONAL SOLEMN CEREMONY FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS
On September 19, the solemn ceremony of Tribute to YSU and Freshmen Oath was held in the yard of the Main building of YSU, which this year was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Armenian Army.

One of the strongest clauses of the establishment of independent Armenian statehood was the creation of its own national army, the embodiment of our centuries-old dream. Creating a strong army was our only guarantee of national security and independence, and it is not accidental that the solemn entry of freshmen to YSU was dedicated to our army.

 

Like every year, the solemn ceremony was organized and YSU Administration, Cultural Centre and student structures.

 

Rafayel Hovhannisyan, 1st year student of the Faculty of International Relations, holder of the “Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Military Cross” for the participation in the four-day Artsakh war, 4th year student of the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology Gevorg Arshakyan, winner of “Student Military Camping -2017” organized in the Artsakh Republic, as well as some others were invited to the stage to raise the flags of Armenia and YSU at the beginning of the event.

 

YSU Rector Aram Simonyan welcomed and congratulated first year students and said: “We are proud that we have a strong army and we are proud and happy that YSU students fulfill their duty to the Homeland with high responsibility. Over the years and months, YSU students have proved that they, of course, are the defenders of our people and country. Dear university students, first year of the studies is always exciting, not only for you, but also for all of us. Dear first-year students, I am sure that you will keep the honor of YSU, you will not forget your university.”

 

 

YSU Student Council Chairman Armen Khachikyan also congratulated the freshmen: “You will face many obstacles on the way to knowledge, but only by overcoming them we can achieve the desired result. Dear first-year students, study well, become good professionals and worthy citizens, thus ensuring our country’s development and strengthening.”

 

This year, Varduhi Tonoyan, 1st year student at the Faculty of Journalism and Tigran Barseghyan, 1st year student of the Faculty of History, were given the responsibility and honor to read the oath.

 

 

During the concert, YSU Cultural Center members performed together with orchestra and the choir of the Military University after V. Sargsyan. Famous and beloved singer Arsen Safaryan and rock band Empiray came to congratulate the freshmen, too.

 

 

During the event, members of YSU “Aparazh” climbing club lowered the flags of the Republic of Armenia, Artsakh Republic and YSU from YSU roof.

 

At the end of the event, everybody thanked YSU Administration, Rector Aram Simonyan, Rector of Military University, Major General Armen Ghahramanyan, Director of YSU Cultural Centre Karine Davtyan and Youth Foundation of Armenia for the support.
