GURGEN MELIKYAN IS CELEBRATING HIS 85TH BIRTHDAY
Many state, political, public, science and culture figures, YSU Acting Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, vice-rectors, heads of different faculties and subdivisions, students, relatives and friends said congratulatory words at the solemn event.

For his great contribution to the social, charitable and educational spheres and on the occasion of his 85th birthday, Gurgen Melikyan was awarded the YSU "Order of Honor" by the unanimous decision of the YSU Academic Council, which was awarded to him by YSU Acting Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.

 

He noted that today is a significant day in the life of YSU, as Gurgen Melikyan, the legend of the university, is awarded a high university order.

Gurgen Melikyan took an active part in the Artsakh national liberation movement and sent humanitarian aid.

Then the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Melkonyan showed the new badge with numbers.

 

It will be worn by orientalists.

"Today we hand over the badge No. 0001 to Gurgen Melikyan."he said.

In addition, on behalf of the faculty, Melkonyan handed Melikyan the coins of the symbolic "Ancient Trees of the World" series issued by the Central Bank.

At the end of the event, Gurgen Melikyan thanked all the friends who helped him in his life.

 

The professor assured that the most important thing in life is faith. "If you believe in your word, in your deed, people will follow you, come and help you." He assured that true happiness is impersonal happiness.
