AMENDMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO A NUMBER OF YSU CHARTERS
The session of YSU Academic Council was held today. The agenda included 13 main and other current issues.

This time the session began with congratulations and words of gratitude. The point is that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the scientific journal “Bulletin of Yerevan University”. Although the official date of the foundation of the journal is 1967, but it existed before that: in 1925 the journal “Scientific Proceedings” already existed. In 1967 they separated, natural and exact sciences were included in the “Proceedings of Yerevan State University” and humanities – “Bulletin of Yerevan University”.

YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, highlighting the significance of the journals in the development of the university, said that today they perfectly perform their tasks, providing part of the scientific policy of our HEI.

“These two periodicals are the face of our scientific publications and always maintain the high standard of being scientific. Owing to the proper level of these scientific journals we can represent ourselves in the international scientific field with confidence,” - said Mr. Simonyan. Then monetary awards and certificates were handed the employees of these periodicals.

Then, schedule of the sessions of the Academic Council for this semester of 2017-2018 academic year was approved. The next issue on the agenda was the approval of the regulations of the master’s degree education (full-time and part-time).

“The amendments to these regulations are of an annual nature due to the peculiarities of the year. The changes are editorial in nature: admission stages and tuition fees, privileges and so on have been changed,” - said the Vice-rector on Educational Affairs Alexander Grigoryan.

Members of the Academic Council discussed and approved the educational programs for 2017-2018 academic year for the part-time education for bachelors and masters, which must then be submitted to the RA Ministry of Education and Science.

The list of the students, who will receive nominal scholarships in the second semester of this academic year, was also approved today. 57 nominal scholarships will be given which should be approved as early as in the beginning of the academic year.

From now on, a new regulation for the preparation and evaluation of Master's thesis will be available at YSU. It has already been discussed by the Academic Council and a number of recommendations have been made, which were included in the document and confirmed today. The criteria and standards for the preparation and presentation of the thesis have been clarified.

The charter of YSU International Cooperation Office has also been changed to some extent to conform to current legal documents and regulations for the registration of foreign trips of the employees. According to the Head of YSU International Cooperation Office Alexander Markarov, it has been clarified what conditions must the business trip meet. From now on, in addition to other documents, it is necessary to obtain a business permit from the person authorized by the Rector.

The session also approved the charters of the Department of Scientific Policy and Accounting Department.

Current issues were three. The collective monograph by G. Melikyan A. Safaryan V. Voskanyan and D. Safaryan “The Nagorno Karabakh conflict in Turkey’s social and political discourse” and Levon Galstyan’s “Higher Mathematics” received the approval for publication. Then the latter and the work “History of Armenian Language” by A. Abajian, N. Dilbaryan and A. Yuzbashyan will be submitted to the RA MES to be recognized as a university textbook.

The last part of the meeting was also full of congratulations, this time, however, Head of YSU Educational-methodological Department Hrant Zhamharyan was in focus: he celebrates the 60th anniversary of birth.

“For over 20 years I have been working with Mr. Zhamharyan and I must say that he is the one to whom the University has placed a heavy burden on the shoulders. Much in our educational system depends on his moral qualities. Since Mr. Zhamharyan has proved his devotion to his work and the university, we can say that one of the most important divisions of YSU is in one of the most trusted hands,” - was said in the congratulatory message of YSU Rector Aram Simonyan.

Congratulatory messages were also read by other colleagues and friends of the hero of the day.

“First of all, Mr. Zhamharyan is a professional and skillful expert. He has a very high sense of responsibility,” - mentioned Mr. Grigoryan in his congratulatory message.

Mr. Zhamharyan was awarded YSU gold medal for his long-term and dedicated work at the university.
