The book “Economic Sociology” will be of interest not only to sociologists and economists, but also all those, engaged in other fields of science.

Today, the presentation of the book “Economic Sociology” was held in the Hall of Sessions of YSU Academic Council. The co-authors of the book are the Head of Chair of Theory and History of Sociology of YSU Faculty of Sociology, Doctor of Sociology, Professor Armen Sahakyan and RA Territorial Administration Deputy Minister, Candidate of Sociology Artashes Bakhshyan.

The authors of the book and participants of the event were welcomed by Vice-rector Ruben Markosyan. Then Dean of the Faculty of Sociology made an opening speech.

“We are happy that today there is right a presentation of a training manual, as such textbooks have a major role in the organization of the educational process. I express my gratitude the authors for their initiative, and I am sure this work will be useful not only for the students, PhD students and, why not, lecturers of the faculties of Sociology and Economics, but also their colleagues from other faculties,” - said Arthur Mkrtchyan.

Dean of the Faculty of Economics Hayk Sargsyan added that any initiative aimed at preparing textbooks, especially in Armenian, are not only welcome at YSU, but are in the focus of the university’s management.

“Today it is impossible to prepare good specialists, if there is not a good interdisciplinary arsenal. The sectors of science are interrelated, and these ties should be developed. Yes, today one can not be a good economist, if he has not studied sociology, languages, history and other areas,” - said Mr. Sargsyan.

Head of Chair of Theory and History of Sociology Armen Sahakyan thanked everybody for the participation in the presentation of the book, kind words, opinions and remarks: “I want to thank the management of YSU and Faculty of Sociology for the support and I hope our modest work will find its deserved place in the organization of the educational process. And in spite of the fact that I have not lived in Armenia for many years, nevertheless, I am pleased the first presentation of the book is held right at my dear university. I am happy my work was appreciated by my colleagues from motherland.”

Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration of Armenia Artashes Bakshyan added that the modern approaches of economics, new proposals and application of rules, analysis of trends and relevant conclusions very often cause a number of difficulties in the practical field.

“The right perception of the content of the book, as well as the combination of difficulties of the contemporary economic situation served for me as a motivation to participate in the process of translation this book into the Armenian language. We faced a number of difficulties, but I am glad they are overcome. The result, no doubt, is satisfactory. I will be grateful if you provide us with all the drawbacks and disadvantages as a result of the discussions, which, I think will be corrected in future editions of the book,” -  the Deputy Minister said.

Vice-rector Ruben Markosyan noted that if the authors wish the electronic version of the manual can be placed on the official website of YSU, which will make available this work for a wider auditorium.
