RUSSIAN LANGUAGE DAY WAS CELEBRATED AT YSU
Today, the jubilee session of the Association of Armenian Specialists in Russian Studies was held at YSU. It was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of this structure.

June 6 is the birthday of the Great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin and Russian Language Day is celebrated. The Association of Armenian Specialists in Russian Studies joined the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature in 2004.

 

Chairman of the above mentioned association Lianna Matevosyan noted the unit was established on the initiative of the Academician Levon Mkrtchyan in 1992. She also read the congratulatory message of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature Lyudmila Verbitskaya.

 

Another congratulatory message was read by YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan.

 

“Russian language is the key to learn about the world’s masterpieces. It is also an important component of international cooperation, and I attach great importance to the role of the association, which actively carries out its mission,” - said Ruben Markosyan.

 

Dean of the Faculty of Russian Philology Pavel Balayan, congratulating the members of the association, said that the organization has carried out extensive work and expressed hope that it will have more success and achievements.

 

Welcoming remarks were made by the representatives of the Russian Embassy, various cultural and social organizations.

 

The round-table discussion “Russian Language in the Armenian educational space” took place during the event.
