NEW EDUCATION PROGRAMS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT YSU
Eight issues were on the agenda of the first session of YSU Academic Council for this semester.

In the beginning, the Academic Council approved the schedule of sessions in the first half of 2015-2016 academic year.

Then the list of professions and educational programs for the baccalaureate of 2016-2017 academic year received its approval.

“In the next academic year we will offer new professions, the list of which was approved by the RA Government. We have several new educational programs. We have removed from the list two educational programs – “Translation studies: French and Armenian” and “Translation studies: German and Armenian”, which were not popular in recent years. Admission exams for some specializations have seen changes, too,” - said Vice-Rector on Educational Affairs Alexander Grigoryan.

Some changes have also been made at YSU Ijevan Branch, based on the demand for professionals in the province of Tavush.

“The professions “Psychology” and “Decorative Arts” are available no more. Instead, we offer the profession “Military training for inductees”, which should train instructors for schools and military commissariats. The others are “Elementary Education and Methodology”, “Social Work” and “Computer Graphics”,” - added the Director of the branch Samvel Arakelyan.

The Regulation of YSU Academic Council and exemplary charters of the faculties were also approved. According to this Regulation, the protocol of the session of the Academic Council should be posted on YSU Internet Portal in the 10-day period (doc.ysu.am).

Head of YSU Educational-methodological Department Hrant Zhamharyan presented the list of nominal scholarship holders for the first half of this academic year.

“We have 55 candidates this year, of whom 34 have already been included in the list,” - said Mr. Zhamharyan.

By the proposal of Artashes Kalantaryan’s family, a scholarship after Artashes Kalantaryan will be available beginning with this year at the Faculty of Journalism (monthly 25.000 drams).

Head of YSU Additional Post-graduate Education Department Jasmine Aghasyan presented the results of the Qualification Program for YSU lecturers in 2014-2015 and 2011-2015 academic years.

“The program will finish after 1 year. The majority of 928 lecturers participated in the program, 30 of them have not participated. According to the rector’s order only those lecturers, who have passed the program, can participate in the competition,” – said Mrs. Aghasyan.

YSU Rector Aram Simonyan informed about the sale of YSU Guest House and details of reconstruction process at YSU Sports Complex and YSU Dilijan Sport and Health Complex.

The book “Methods of Teaching Mathematics” by the Associate Professor at the Chair of General Mathematics Edward Ayvazyan was approved for the publication. Then a mediation will be submitted to the RA Ministry of Education and Science to recognize it as a university textbook.
