“SPEGHANI” CHOIR IS IN YSU CULTURAL CENTRE
Prior to the 100th anniversary of YSU foundation, with the assistance of the RA Ministry of Culture the concert of “Speghani” choir was held in YSU Cultural Centre.

“Speghani” choir has played a significant role in modern choir art development and it goes on implementation of new programs and ideas contributing to the development and spreading of the national choir art.


The name of the choir is symbolic: founded in 1996 it was called “Speghani” (“Solace”) in memory of the fallen in Artsakh War.

The choir performed throughout Armenia, Artsakh, in Russia, Lebanon, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Lithuania taking part in various international festivals and getting first prizes.

The founder of the choir and its conductor is the pedagog, the RA Distinguished Art Worker Sarine Avtandilyan.

The wife of the RA third President Mrs Rita Sargsyan, the Scientific Secretary of YSU Menua Soghomonyan, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Romance-Germaic Philology Gevorg Barseghyan, the director of the Cultural Centre Karine Danielyan, representatives of the faculty and students were present at the event.

A meeting with Armenian composer, People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Mansuryan took place at YSU Charles Aznavour Culture Center, during which university rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan presented the maestro with YSU gold medal.
