STRENGTHENING INTEGRITY AND COMBATING CORRUPTION IN FOCUS
The representatives of the educational system of Armenia discussed the issues in the field of strengthening integrity and combating corruption.

The next meeting in the framework of the program “Strengthening Integrity and Combating Corruption in Higher Education in Armenia”, launched in 2015, was held today. At the end of the second year of the implementation of the project the goal of the conference is to bring together specialists and decision makers of the education sector, who represent the higher education sector of Armenia and around the world. They will consider in details the results obtained and will single out the areas that need to be focused on in the next period.

 

The event was attended by the representatives of the Armenian HEI, the EU Delegation in Armenia and the Office of Council of Europe. After the welcoming remarks the RA Deputy Minister of Education and Science Karine Harutyunyan presented the legislation on the RA higher education and the strategy for the coming years. She spoke in details about the draft of the law “On higher education”, amendments thereto and further actions.

The goal of the program “Strengthening Integrity and Combating Corruption in Higher Education in Armenia” is to develop tools promoting transparency and accountability in higher education institutions, as well as to improve the legislative framework. Its task is to support the development of the effective management of higher education in Armenia and create the mechanisms for the strengthening integrity.

 

Today and tomorrow, during 4 sessions, specialists will discuss issues related to the education, each of which has its focus on the legal context, policy, presentation of tools, implementation and further steps. Moderator of one of the sessions is YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan.

 

The participants also had the opportunity to get practical materials, related to the ensuring transparency and accountability at the higher education institutions, codes of ethics. These materials also have been developed within the project.
