The purpose of the conference, organized by student structures, is to share experiences among studentship. The conference, held on December 1-5, involves young people from seven countries in Armenia and around the world. It includes lectures on university structures, student structures, students’ role in governing bodies, meetings, sessions and intellectual games.
The participants will also be received at the RA Ministry of Education and Science, participate in cultural programs and visit sights of Armenia.
During the opening ceremony, YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan welcomed the participants, wished good luck to foreign students and expressed hope that the event would be productive.
“In my student years I have also been a member of the Student Council and I have to state that progress in student self-government is obvious. This period cannot be compared with the difficult times of our student years, when the country was in a state of war, crisis situations. Today we have another reality that allows our country, our university and our students to revive student self-government,” - Ruben Markosyan said in his speech.
YSU Vice-rector advised students to try to define what is really student self-government in modern reality. He added that it would be interesting to exchange international experience and then presented the conference participants the structure, activities and approaches of YSU.
YSU Student Council Chairman Armen Khachikyan wished the participants success and noted that the organizers have done everything to make the forum effective and interesting: “The conference is being held for the fourth time. Time and experience have shown that the important thing is the good atmosphere and our warm relationship.”
After the solemn opening ceremony, the participants visited YSU History Museum.
It should be noted that the conference was organized for the first time in 2014.
