Head of SSS of this faculty Lena Ghazaryan presented major goals of such initiatives.
The knowledge of foreign languages has been signified by civil society for ages and has always been considered as an advantage. Nowadays, in the context of globalization process, major part of 6000 languages worldwide faces the danger to occur out of usage. That is why UN General Assembly proclaimed 2008 International Year of Languages.
14 reports, prepared by students, had focused on one general idea: how to motivate the multilinguism development in our country, preserving the native language. People, who speak only in their native language, must be stimulated to learn one or more of the international languages of the region.
Some of documents on UNESCO Project on strategy and preaching of multilinguism on international level (2001) were presented by students.
SSS had prepared a video film, too, where was shown how the UN corresponding structure tries to preserve and stimulate multilinguism via partnership and communication.
The knowledge of languages is very important. But we must do our best for the knowledge of foreign languages serve for the interests of our language, development of our culture, and we must not lose our national identity, - said Seda Gasparyan.
