This year’s celebration was different from all the other events organized previously. The celebration had united the student councils from the faculties of Theology, Armenian Philology, Economics, History and Philosophy and Psychology.
“It is great that students from several faculties are united around one idea, organizing similar events. Let us hope that in the future this initiative will continue, extending the cooperation boundaries,” - says Vice-chairman of YSU Student Council Vardan Ghaplanyan.
The traditional fire was lit by the efforts of economists and philologists. The event was attended by tutors, students, guests, members of the Student Council, deacons Gegham and Hrayr.
Deacon Gegham spoke about the “Tearnendaraj”, told about the church and national traditions of the day. Students of the Faculty of Theology distributed holiday gifts and souvenirs. Following the tradition, the students jumped over the fire.
On the same day, the future theologians celebrated the Day of St. Sargis. The slogan of the day was “We will celebrate the Day in Armenian Way”.
Students had prepared an event, which was attended by the tutors, guests, students and Deacon Hrayr from the Holy See (Etchmiadzin).
“According to the tradition, this day is celebrated by us with students. We welcome this beautiful initiative,” - said the Secretary of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Theology Arshak Balayan.
During the event students presented episodes from the legends, related to St. Sarkis, organized games and the winners received their awards.
“This is the second year that I attend this day at the Faculty of Theology. The event was very interesting and most importantly, prepared with great love. Today we speak about love and prepare surprises for our beloved people,” – said Deacon Hrayr.
The participants discussed the religious, folk and traditional background of the holiday, and this was followed by an interesting conversation.
“Series of events “We will celebrate the Day in Armenian Way” is going to be continuous this year. A big team is being formed, which will deal with holidays, identification of national traditions, so that young people return to their roots, know, love and appreciate their heritage,” - says the Secretary of the SC of the faculty Nazely Hayrapetyan.
