The Venezuelan delegation, headed by Alvaro Sanchez Cordero, is on a two-day official visit to Armenia (residence in Moscow). In addition to the official meetings, Mr. Cordero has also decided to deliver lectures to students, who study policy and diplomacy.
YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan made a welcoming speech.
During the meeting with the students of the Faculty of International Relations, Mr. Cordero made a focus on the historical background, noting that Venezuela and Armenia have a lot in common, taking into account the different periods of the struggle against the invaders, genocide, and so on.
He then spoke about his country’s foreign policy, relations with Latin American neighbors and major powers, the role of their country in South America, their model of economic development and so on.
“Our countries are geographically far from each other and our peoples are not well aware of each other’s problems. I am here also to find ways of cooperation. I think we have something to give each other,” - said Alvaro Sanchez Cordero.
Alvaro Sanchez Cordero also answered students’ questions, which mainly related to the recognition of NKR independence by Venezuela and other related issues.
