This is a really special day for everybody, as it marks the start of the academic year at schools and higher education institutions. And many surprises are being prepared on this day for the first year students at all 19 faculties of YSU.
The message of YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, addressed to the first year students, states the following: “Dear freshmen, I cordially congratulate you on the occasion of the admission and I want your years of study to be not only for getting high professional qualification, but also the years of formation of the citizen of the country.”
Student Council and Student Scientific Society also participated in this annual event. They presented in details the structures, activities and objectives of their organizations.
Representatives of the professorial staff wished students educational and scientific achievements, urging them to be active and put forward initiatives.
Students of the Faculty of Journalism had prepared a film for the freshmen, which featured the alumni of this faculty, who are now famous journalists, as well as occupy many other important positions.
According to the tradition, first lesson at the Faculty of Armenian Philology was held at Komitas Pantheon. After laying flowers to the graves of prominent figures, some lecturers who were their contemporaries, shared memories, experiences that few people are aware.
Lecturers and administration of the Faculty of Theology introduced the educational process, showed the newly renovated center providing educational and student services.
YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan greeted and wished good luck future theologians: “You are the part of more than 3,000 first year students and those who will be privileged to take part in 2019 in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the university.”
These events will continue in the coming days and on September 16 the annual freshmen oath ceremony will be held.
