YSU GOLD COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL FOR YERVAND GHAZANCHYAN
On December 21, by the decision of YSU Academic Council members, renowned Armenian Director and specialist in drama study Yervand Ghazanchyan was awarded YSU Gold Commemorative Medal on the occasion of his 80th anniversary of birth.

YSU Rector Aram Simonyan welcomed the guest and presented some details from the biography and creative life of RA People’s Artist, Director Yervand Ghazanchyan.

 

“Dear maestro, you are one of the most prominent artists in the world of art. On behalf of all the staff and students of Yerevan State University we congratulate you on the jubilee. You have a significant contribution to the creation of brilliant pages of Armenian culture. Your biography is itself a school of life. With your work you instill a high taste, and the creative potential is dedicated to the development and recognition of national culture,” – said Aram Simonyan and handed him the medal.

 

The Rector also presented the renowned theatrical figure his book “Zangezur Struggle”, which was published recently.

 

Dean of the Faculty of Armenian Philology Artsrun Avagyan, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism Naghash Martirosyan and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Sociology Anahit Sahakyan also made speeches.

 

“Honorable professor, once when we were too young, you told us that the Armenian theater has more than 2,000 years of history, but the full weight lies on the shoulders of several adults, just as some columns hold Zvartnots temple. Today let me say that you are one of the pillars on whose shoulders the burden of Armenian art and drama is,” - said Mr. Martirosyan.

 

The university students expressed words of gratitude and praise not only about the great artist, but his wife, all the favorite actress Galya Novents.

 

“Dear students, this medal is a great honor for me. I always try to stay unnoticed, but it is nice to be appreciated. I am grateful to everyone,” - said Yervand Ghazanchyan.

 

The guest also mentioned that 57 years ago he directed a theater group in the Black Building and staged Alexander Ostrovsky’s “Innocent Guilty”, starring the former Director of YSU Publishing House Pertch Stepanyan and professor at the Armenian Philology Faculty Vazgen Gabrielyan.
