On March 15 YSU Olympiad on general education subjects was launched in Yerevan and regions of Armenia - Shirak, Armavir, Tavush, Ararat, Gegharkunik, Syunik and Lori. YSU Olympiad has already become a tradition. The Olympiad will be held in mathematics, physics, chemistry, informatics, biology, geography and history of the Armenian people, human rights and democracy, the history of the Armenian church, creative work) and will be provided not only for the pupils of 12th forms, but also for those pupils who perfectly know these disciplines. From each school 2-3 pupils in each subject participated in it.
“Every year the number of participants increases. For comparison, in the first year 600 pupils were involved, and this year - more than 2,800. I think Olympiad is primarily an extensive experience for preparing for entrance exams, as most of the test items deal with the test. The Olympiad also helps children in their professional orientation,” - said Head of YSU Pre-university Education Department Vachagan Galstyan.
According to the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry Tariel Gholchikyan the principle of the Olympiad is to check the level of knowledge gained in school: “In this program we have included one task from each section. It should be noted that the tests were made by the teachers who are familiar with the procedure of the school.”
Participant of the Olympiad in the section “creative work” Susanna Safaryan said she enthusiastically applied for the participation in the Olympiad: “Since I want to enter the journalism faculty of Yerevan State University, for me it is a good opportunity to test my skills. I came prepared and will do anything for the success.”
