MEMORANDUM OF MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING WAS SIGNED
Today a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between YSU and "Philip Morris Armenia" LLC.

YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, Vice-Rector for Scientific Policy and International Cooperation Gegham Gevorgyan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Hayk Sargsyan, Director of IBM Innovative Solutions and Technologies Center Bagrat Yengibaryan, General Manager of Philip Morris Company Natalia Mayorova attended the signing ceremony. Director on Researches Luca Rossi, Technology Manager Ricardo Riva Reggio, Corporate Affairs Manager Vahe Danielyan and the Deputy Minister of Economy of the RA Emil Tarasyan were also present.


Rector Aram Simonyan welcomed the members of the Delegation of Philip Morris Armenia LLC and briefly presented YSU activities.


"We are glad to start this cooperation with you. The signing of the memorandum is the first step in our partnership. We hope that the next stages of our joint activities will be useful and effective. In the near future we will try to implement cooperation programs, develop new ideas," - said YSU Rector Aram Simonyan.


The members of the Delegation of "Philip Morris Armenia" LLC expressed their willingness to contribute to the formation of high quality human capital in the field of research and development in Armenia.


"We are extremely excited about the opportunity for Armenian talented young scientists to communicate with the world-renowned leading scholars in their fields. This proves our trust and commitment to the country where we live and work," - said Natalia Mayorova, CEO of "Philip Morris Armenia" Ltd.


In the course of the meeting the possibilities of conducting educational and research initiatives in the directions of mutual interest were discussed, which may include the development of both master's and post-graduate programs.


It should also be noted that at Philip Morris Research centers, currently in Switzerland and Singapore, basic and applied researches are carried out in chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, engineering, thermodynamics and other fields.

Vahram Dumanyan, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, was re-elected as Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics with 21 votes at the session of Academic Council of YSU Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics. Let us note that the election was held on May 11 and was attended by YSU Rector Aram Simonyan.
