Head of the Chair of Iranian Studies at Yerevan State University Vardan Voskanyan, Associate Professor Hasmik Kirakosyan, assistants Hakob Avchyan and Artyom Tonoyan visited the universities of Shiraz and Nishapur.
Our students first took part in the conference on "Literature of Congregation" in Shiraz University, dedicated to literary developments, where Vardan Voskanyan's speech referred to the Armenian-Iranian literary and cultural interconnection with millennia-long history. During the visit, meetings were held with the leadership of this university and discussed the prospects for cooperation.
YSU lecturers have participated in seminars on Iranian dialects at Nishapur University, met with the Academic Council members, discussed the steps to expand comprehensive cooperation and took part in the signing ceremony of the agreements between the universities.
"The University of Nishapur is located in the city of Khorasan, where there are many dialects which should be researched. And since we are dealing with dialects and linguistics, we have agreed to cooperate closely with experts in this field," - said Hakob Avchyan and added that Iranian colleagues expressed readiness to cooperate in the field of literature and archeology.
Associate Professor Hasmik Kirakosyan not only participated in the seminar, but also presented the activities of the Chair of YSU Iranian Studies, educational programs and possible spheres of cooperation.
"There was a great interest in the topics of our reports, which allows us to further expand the Armenian-Iranian scientific and educational ties. I think it's important to focus on student exchange programs and bring them into a practical field," - says H. Kirakosyan.
The head of the chair attaches importance to cooperation with Iran and notes that YSU Chair of Iranian Studies establishes ties with the largest scientific-educational centers and universities in Iran to call to life not only scientific-educational but also cultural projects.
"We also visited the University of Sabzevar and made preliminary arrangements. With the management of Shiraz University it was decided to establish a research center at YSU. More practical projects were discussed with the University of Nishapur, which included both exchange of students and joint research of lecturers," - said V. Voskanyan.
The head of the chair noted that the members of the Armenian delegation had meetings with Iranian scientists and media representatives.
