“In your speech you mentioned that the flows of entrants towards YSU are hindered by absence of high schools and colleges, as well as unequal conditions in comparison with American, French, Slavonic universities. Which are those unequal conditions?”
“We have referred to the problem of high schools for more than 10 years. We have applied to Yerevan Municipality and up to now got refusals without fair justification, as regards the second issue I have to say that YSU has a limited admission period while there are universities which have different periods for admission. Slavonic university has the right to have preparatory course to which are enrolled the students who pass to the first course after taking their exams.
In the Soviet period such a right was provided for all state universities, and now YSU and other state universities can’t make use of that right. YSU has raised this problem many times, but no solutions have been proposed yet. The most essential is that there is no unified legislation for the activity and this fact creates problem for YSU”, answered the Rector.
