YSU STUDENT - WORLD SAMBO CHAMPION
Grigor Sahakyan, 90kg weightlifter, won gold medal at the World Junior Championship held in Novi Sad, Serbia on October 12-16.

Grigor Sahakyan is a 2nd year student at YSU Faculty of Economics and Management.


“We knew it would not be easy. My commitment was serious and at the same time we had great expectations. I am happy with the results because I won a gold medal,” - Grigor Sahakyan said in an interview with us.


Then he added: “Nobody has guided me in the selection of sports. My brother and I started practicing judo together. And then I chose sambo.”


YSU student has also tried other sports: “I have played chess and I have succeeded there, too. I have the first category.”


He combines sports with the education: “I like economics, banking calculations, and all that is related to my profession. I have little free time, but if it is available I try to spend it with my friends and relatives.”


Grigor Sahakyan also said: “There are no competitions in the near future. Now I train 2 hours a day, but before the competition I have 3 exercises per day.”


Let us also inform that Grigor Sahakyan was declared the champion in the in the European Youth Junior Sambo Championship, held in April in Prague.
