WE ARE THE NEW GENERATION...
WE ARE THE NEW GENERATION...
On September 15 evening YSU Central Building yard was calling upon all of you.

Evening concert sounds attracted not only universitarians, but also ordinary passersby. For the 5th time, Alma Mater organized the Tribute to Yerevan State University and Freshmen Oath Ceremony. About three thousand freshmen entered YSU in 2010.

The annual ceremony is organized by Cultural Center of Yerevan State University and University management. And, as always, the festival was full of surprises. This years program is almost entirely new, and many premiers are expected, - promised YSU Cultural Center Director Karine Davtyan.

Celebrations began with the blessing of Catholicos of All Armenians, read by the dean of the Faculty of Theology Anushavan Bishop Zhamkochyan.

It is already the 5th year that we organize these celebrations. I wish many people to be present at this festival in future on every September 15 under the illusion of mild evening, to honor our University and welcome our freshmen, - said in his welcoming speech Rector of Yerevan State University Professor Aram Simonyan, NAS RA Associate Member, expressing hope that our new 3000 students will become good specialists, good citizens and just good people.

YSU Student Council Chairman Tsolak Akopyan also made welcoming speech.

According to the tradition the text of the freshmen oath was unveiled by two graduates. This time the honor was entrusted to the graduate of the Faculty of International Relations, Greco-Roman wrestling world champion Arsen Julfalakyan and Armenian Philology Faculty graduate Arpine Poghosyan. Just 6 years ago I was standing in your place and I thought that university years will last very long, but it was just like a moment, which is called student life, - said the graduate-athlete. And the honor to read the solemn text of oath was trusted to the Law Faculty freshman Tigran Melkonyan and Economics Faculty freshman Lilit Muradyan. I swear, I swear, I swear... repeated all freshmen, who henceforth will bear the honorary title of universitarian.

As for the premiers of the day, the new song should be emphasized, which, according to the authors, will become one of the beloved songs of the universitarians. This hit song is called For Your Dream. This song was developed by the authors in two years. The author of the music is YSU Faculty of Chemistry PhD student, YSU Cultural Center Soloists Group Art Director Lilit Ter-Vardanyan. She says the goal was to make a hit, which, will be valuable and remain in the memory of future generations. The lyrics authors Armen Yesayants and Sosi Khanikyan share her opinion.

The festive atmosphere became hotter owing to another hit song, performed by YSU Faculty of Economics PhD student Artsrun Khangeldyan. The song Shake was written by him for the participation in Eurovision, but, for the first time, it sounded from the University stage.

Few know that one of the best Armenian pop singers, Syuzi, has graduated from Yerevan State University Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology. Today she said about it with pride and performed two of her favorite songs.

Another expected surprise was the premiere of Sophie Mkheyans project Know. Many young people from YSU had participated in the shooting of the video for this song, and the project was financed by YSU Graduate Union NGO. The favorite singer performed her new song for the first time on the Alma Mater Day, once again emphasizing that the University is the leader and the universitarians are our future.
