WHICH IS OUR DESTINATION?
WHICH IS OUR DESTINATION?
This statement was something new during the scientific conference headed "Social Reforms and Identity Issues in Armenia", organized by the Faculty of Sociology.

Faculty managers, students together with tutors from other faculties were among the participants. Cynthia Beckley, a doctor of sociology from Texas University, was also present at the conference.

The first reporter was dean of this faculty Lyudmila Haroutyunyan. She spoke on the topic New Identity Seeking in the Context of Modern Political Situation in Armenia.

The issue of identity is not a new one. Its origin comes from the 19th century and many specialists have been concerned about it in different times. So, the presence of specialists at this conference, who are not occupied in this area, is too important. I am sure, that after the reports students also will take part in the coming discussion and new approaches and ideas on the issue of identity will be expressed,-said Mrs. Haroutyunyan.

Head of Chair of Sociology Arthur Mkrtchyan and head of Chair of Culturology Hamlet Petrosyan also presented their reports. Cynthia Beckley spoke about current discussions and social developments on the identity.

The reports of tutors were followed by the reports by students.

A discussion was held during the second part of the conference. Here a focus on the issue of identity was made: Identity as group identification: nation in modern conditions, Identity as an identification for nation: processes of participation and gender displays, Identity and society: social developments and reforms.
