FUTURE DIPLOMATS STUDY THE LANGUAGE OF GESTURES
FUTURE DIPLOMATS STUDY THE LANGUAGE OF GESTURES
More than 130 students took part in the seminar-discussion on the language of gestures, used in the international relations.
Today, Student Scientific Society of YSU Faculty of International Relations organized a seminar on Gesture Language in International Relations. The seminar was organized mainly for freshmen, but interest towards this topic was also shown by senior and PhD students.

Welcoming this initiative, Chairman of the SSS of the Faculty of International Relations Zhanna Harutyunyan introduced the instructor Smbat Minasyan, who continued to hold the seminar. He presented not only the historical and theoretical materials, but also via a series of examples and various pictures focused on the gestures used by the politicians, making an attempt to explain the real message, hidden under these signs.

The event is very important for our students, since the language of gestures has a very big role in modern diplomacy. The word has no retroactive effect in diplomacy; in this case the gesture has an important role. So, the future diplomats should understand people without words, - said Zhanna Harutyunyan.

The examples of the gestures, used by foreign and local political figures, were shown. But students were mainly interested in local examples. Participants also had a chance to comment on this or that gesture in advance, after which only the real meaning of the gesture was presented by the instructor.

This is the second year that a similar event is held. Today there is still demand in the periodic nature of such events. If there are events in the international politics, which require such analysis, then we will organize another seminar, - said YSU SSS Chairman Zhanna Harutyunyan.
