Scientific Research Laboratory «Chemistry of Nitrogen- , Oxygen- and Sulfur- containing heterocycle compounds»
In 2005 «Chemistry of nitrogen-, oxygen- and sulfur containing heterocyclic compounds» research laboratory was organized adjacent to the chair of organic chemistry of chemistry department of YSU.

 Main fields of investigations

To investigate, to develop and to carry out hetrocyclization reactions on the field of chemistry of nitrogen-, oxygen- and sulfur containing functionally substituted new heterocyclic compounds, and to obtain loctone and qinoline rings connected to pharmacophore groups.

    • To develop methods of synthesis of nitrogen-, oxygen- and sulfur containing compounds, viz., saturated and unsaturated lactones and qinolines. To investigate their chemical transformations,
    • To carry out purposeful syntheses on the field of chemistry of new systems containing new functionallized saturated and unsaturated lactone ring and qinolines. Partially, to carry out syntheses on the field of synthesis of fused structural systems,
    • Syntheses of biologically active new compounds,
    • Study of structure-properties interconnection


In this project is planned to investigate and to carry out development of synthesis methods of scanty substances necessary for fine organic chemistry and study of their biological properties. In variety of natural compounds are interesting compounds containing saturated and unsaturated five-membered mono- and bis-lactone ring as well as derivatives of qinoline and chromene with combined heterocycles by different structures. In chair of organic chemistry the carried out investigations on this field has been shown that many synthetic analogue of those compounds, which are combined with pirazole, triazole, benzoxazole, benzimidazole, indole, tiazole, oxazole and other systems, show antitumor, anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, hypotensive activities etc. and are regulators of higher plants. In terms of that is purposeful as a result of project planned experiments in variety of mentioned heterocyclic systems to expect that investigations of these compounds will have theoretical and practical significance. Development and study of new available methods of their synthesis will create real possibility of selection of biologically more active and nontoxic compounds.

Objectives and problems

It is planned to carry out the following investigations in program frame.

    • It is planned to continue the study in the field of synthesis of new compounds containing five- and six-membered lactone ring, develop new methods and new reactions for obtaining and investigating functionally substituted new compounds with different heteroatoms and pharmacophore groups,
    • It is planned to carry out synthesis of ethoxycarbonyl-, ethoxycarbonylmethyl-, car-boxy¬methyl, alkoxymethyl, carboxy-, cyano-, acetyl-, amino- and imino functionally substituted saturated and unsaturated lactones, by the interaction of respectively substituted dimethyl malonate, ethyl cyanoacetate, ethyl acetoacetate malononitrile with α-ketols. To carry out synthesis of bis-iminolactones by the interaction of tertiary α-ketols with bis-cyanoacetamides in basic conditions and to stady some transformations of synthesized bis-iminolactones,
    • It is planned to synthesize 2-cyano-3,4-dimethyl-4-phenyl-2-butene-4-olide and to obtain its 3-bromomethyl-, 3-formyl new derivatives. To carry out some chemical transformations of 2-cyano-3,4-dimethyl-4-phenyl-2-butene-4-olide expense of cyano group. To carry out some chemical transformations of 2-cyano-3- bromomethyl(3-formyl)-4-methyl-4-phenyl-2-butene-4-olides expense of 3-bromomethyl-, 3-formyl- groups,
    • To carry out the interaction of 2-aminofurans with ethyl acetoacetate, ethyl cyanoacetate and malononitrile, to obtain derivatives of furo[2,3-d]pyrimidine and pyridine, respectively,
    • It is planned to continue the interaction of benz-substituted 2(4)chlor-4(2)-methylqinolines with N- and S-nucleophiles and to investigate their chemical transformations, to obtain fused systems,
    • To perform screening of biological activity of synthesized compounds:
