The governing body of the SSS is the Student Scientific Society’s Academic Council, the members of which are YSU SSS Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and the chairmen of the faculty SSSs. The head of the SSS Academic Council is the Chairman of SSS, who is elected by YSU Academic Council. Currently the Chairman of SSS is Mher Hakobyan, a postgraduate student at the Chair of Political Institutions and Processes. The Secretary is Mariam Martirosyan, a third year student at the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology.
The initial structural units of YSU SSS, according to the policy of the SSS, are the faculty branches of SSS. A full-time undergraduate (at least sophomore), graduate and postgraduate student may join the respective faculty SSS according to the recommendation letter from the head of the corresponding chair. A student can apply for the recommendation himself, or the head of chair may nominate a candidate in his sole discretion. An exemplary SSS member should have good academic record, research and organizational skills, enjoy the sympathy of his fellow students and lecturers. The members of the faculty SSS elect the president and the Secretary of their faculty SSS, whose candidacy should then be approved by the faculty Academic Council.
The Staff is an SSS structural unit. Its main function of which is the organization of current inter-university activities and projects. Any student may become a member of the Staff, from the first academic year on. The Chief of Staff is appointed by the Chairman of SSS.
The SSS structural subdivisions include committees as well. Currently two permanent committees function: the Foreign Relations Committee and the Media Committee. Starting from the first academic year any student, interested in collaborating with any of the committees, can join either of them.
