THIS YEAR 3134 APPLICANTS ENTERED YSU IN THE FIRST ROUND
3720 entrants participated in the two rounds of the admission for 2014-2015 academic year at YSU.

Secretary of the Admission Commission Vachagan Galstyan says this year the total number of applicants is less for 2000 people, compared to last year, which is due to the decrease in the number of graduates.

This year, 356 free of charge and 3046 paid places were available at YSU. 389 applicants will study free of charge: 358 of them will study free of charge, based on the main competition, while other privileges are available for 29 students. 2 applicants are from NKR. 2745 applicants will study in the paid system.

On July 15-20 the competition for vacant seats was held, which provides the applicants with positive points with the opportunity to choose other professions.

“This year, unfortunately, we had a lot of vacant seats - 461 for which 70 people had applied. The results for the vacant places will be announced by July 25 and the admission for regular education will be over. 118 applicants will join the army. They can pay the tuition fee for one semester and a relevant order will be given to consider them as students or they can do this after the demobilization, applying the format which will be available then,” - says Mr. Galstyan.

This year’s competition was particularly high at the English Department of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, faculties of Law, International Relations, Informatics and Applied Mathematics. Vacant seats are at the faculties of Physics, Biology, Russian Philology and Theology.

“The admission process is satisfactory in general. The issue of concern is the excessive number of vacant seats at some faculties. This is, however, a signal for us to understand what changes have to be made next year. Many changes have been made in the list of the available specializations this year, which did not lead to positive result. For example, we are satisfied with the physico-mathematical branch,” – said YSU Vice-rector on Educational Affairs Alexander Grigoryan.

The deadline for the payments of the tuition fees for the freshmen is September 15. Those who will have paid by this date will sign an agreement with YSU. The payments can be made at any bank of the RA. The bank account is 247010000906.
