On October 24 in the framework of the III International Forum of Graduates of Moscow State Institute of International Relations Yerevan State University hosted the representatives of leading universities of the Eurasian region.
In particular, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandyan, Rector of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations Anatoly Torkunov, Vice-Rector Evgeniy Kozhokin, Vice-Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry Oleg Ivanov, Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Nurlan Aitmurzaev, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University Victor Shadurskiy, a representative of the Faculty of International Relations of the Eurasian National University after L. N. Gumilyev Zhanar Medeubaeva and professor at the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages Gabit Zhumatai, visited YSU.
Guests were welcomed by YSU vice-rectors Gegham Gevorgyan and Ruben Markosyan. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Director of YSU Institute for Armenian Studies Mher Hovhannisyan and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of Yerevan State University Arthur Israelyan.
Vice-rector Gegham Gevorgyan welcomed the representatives of the sphere of education, briefly presented the history of YSU, structure, scientific and educational processes, as well as spoke about the international cooperation with foreign universities.
“We are grateful for the reception. We are pleased that we have the opportunity to visit this HEI, and hope that the cooperation between the universities of the EEU will include new areas and programs. I am sure that for the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Union it is important to work together and get the results that will help all member countries,” - said Anatoly Torkunov and added that much attention should be paid to the joint training of young professionals and new staff in the field of international relations.
Anatoly Torkunov on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Lazarev Institute of Oriental Languages awardedYerevanStateUniversity a medal and a guide book on the Moscow Oriental Studies, which was presented at the III International Forum of Graduates of Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
Vice-rector Gegham Gevorgyan on behalf of YSU Rector Aram Simonyan awarded the Rector of MSIIR medal.
Anatoly Torkunov handed YSU administration the draft of the Declaration of the Association of the Universities of the EEU and noted that after the discussions it will be signed.
Then, the guests visited the Museum of History of Yerevan State University and the Institute for Armenian Studies of Yerevan State University.
On 23 October, RA President Serzh Sargsyan awarded Academician Anatoly Torkunov the Supreme Award of theRepublicofArmenia- the Order of Honor for Strengthening and Development of Armenian-Russian Friendship, as well as the activities aimed at enhancing the scientific and educational ties.
