Narine Zakaryan, Associate Professor at the Chair of Botany and Mycology and Researcher at the Research Institute of Biology, Yerevan State University, highlights this point, noting that essential oil-bearing plants make up 9% of Armenia's flora. She, along with her research team, is currently studying the economic significance of plant species that are underutilized by the population of Armenia, uncovering their antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and other valuable properties.

Armenian grape skins as a raw material for safe food packaging Artificial pH indicators—films placed on the inner or outer surfaces of packaging—are known to be toxic, which limits their use in food packaging applications. Hayk Petrosyan, a young researcher from Yerevan State University, along with his research team, is studying the process of extracting natural pH indicators from the skins of various grape varieties. He notes that it is possible to utilize grape waste, such as the by-products of winemaking, thereby not only reducing raw material costs but also contributing to the development of local recycling and processing industries.
