Foreign students

The admission of foreign citizens is carried out by the "Procedure of admission of foreign citizens to RA higher educational institutions" approved by the relevant decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

According to this procedure, the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports accepts the applicants' documents.

Preparation courses for foreign citizens

YSU operates a department of preparatory courses for foreign citizens (52a, Abovyan St., Yerevan, 1st floor of the Faculty of Armenian Philology, Office 115, tel.: (+374 60) 710 679, (+374 96) 710 679), where those foreigners whose educational level corresponds to the RA secondary school program have the opportunity to be admitted, including those who do not have a sufficient command of the Armenian language.

Foreign students, along with strengthening general education knowledge (mathematics, history, chemistry, biology, geography, foreign language, etc.), learn Armenian or supplement their knowledge of the Armenian language.

At the end of the academic year, those foreign students who have successfully passed the exams are admitted to the respective faculties.

Who has the opportunity to enter and study at YSU?

Foreign citizens who are fluent in the Armenian language and can successfully pass the entrance exams for the faculty of their choice have the opportunity to be admitted to the YSU Undergraduate studies.

Foreign citizens who are fluent in Armenian and have a Bachelor's degree have the opportunity to be admitted to the YSU Master's studies. If the applicant continues his/her education in another profession, he/she must pass the entrance exam in the professional subjects of the preferred faculty. In special cases, foreign citizens will be given the opportunity to study in the Master's program with an individual study program (for 1-2 academic years).

Foreign citizens who have a Master's degree and are fluent in Armenian, Russian, and English can receive Postgraduate education. In the case of a number of specialties, it is possible to organize the course also in English.

Documents required for admission

Foreign citizens must submit the following documents to apply to YSU:

  1. Filled-in application (see the attached form);

  2. Filled-in application questionnaire (see the attached form);

  3. Medical reference about general health status (can be provided by the medical institutions of the Republic of Armenia);

  4. Copy of the passport;

  5. Copy of the birth certificate or a copy of the baptism certificate verified by a notary (Only for Diaspora Armenians);

  6. Copy of the graduation certificate with the grades, translated and verified by the Notary. In the case of specific countries, international validation (Apostille) may be needed

  7. 4 photos (size 3x4);

  8. CV in Armenian, Russian, or English;

  9. For the postgraduate education program, an essay on the chosen major topic in Armenian, Russian, or English (approx. 20 pages).

The documents of the applicant will not be examined if the package of the submitted documents is incomplete and will be returned to the applicant.

The applicant or his/her authorized person or the representative from the educational institution must submit the documents mentioned in the points from 1 to 9 to the Department of Foreign Relations and Diaspora of the Ministry or send electronic versions of the relevant documents within the established timeframe to the following email address: secretariat@escs.am .

During the knowledge assessment, the applicant or his/her authorized person or the representative of the educational institution must submit the originals of the documents (points 1-9) to the Department of Foreign Relations and Diaspora of the Ministry.

Admission schedule

STEP 1

For admission to a free full-time bachelor’s educational program (specialties in the field of Armenian studies, pedagogy and art) for applicants from the Armenian Diaspora

from June 17 to August 23, 2024

For admission to full-time bachelor’s, as well as continuous and integrated educational programs with tuition fee(including for admission to a preparatory course)

from June 17 to September 27, 2024

For admission to a full-time master’s educational program with a tuition fee

from June 17 to October 10, 2024

For admission to part-time bachelor’s and master’s educational programs with tuition fee

from June 17 to October 15, 2024

For admission to a postgraduate educational program with a tuition fee (PhD)

from June 17 to November 15, 2024

For admission to full-time primary professional (vocational) and middle professional educational institutions with tuition fee

from July 3 to August 15, 2024

For admission to part-time middle professional educational institutions with tuition fee

from June 17 to October 11, 2024

The documents are presented to the Ministry:

  • directly by the applicant or an authorized person;

  • by the higher educational institution, primary professional (vocational) and middle professional educational institutions;

  • through diplomatic representations of the RA in foreign countries.

STEP 2:

After examination and registration of documents, it is necessary to visit the Department of Organization of Education of Foreign Students of Yerevan State University (address: Alek Manukyan 1, YSU central building, 4th floor, room 408, Phone: (+374 10) 555 244, E-mails: diaspora@ysu.am, foreignstudent@ysu.am).

Dormitory

Dormitory

The YSU dormitory was renovated in 2019. The dormitory has 125 rooms, of which 66 include 1 room, 47 have 2 rooms, 8 have 3 rooms, and 4 include 4 rooms. The rooms are furnished and comfortable; they include bathrooms, heating, and 10 kitchens, which are provided with the necessary household equipment (refrigerator, gas stove, kettle, microwave oven, etc.).

Safety rules are observed in the dormitory, and access to transport is ensured.

Applications for temporary residence in the dormitory should be submitted to YSU Vice-Rector for General Affairs (YSU Central Building, room 201, phone: (+374 60) 710-114), foreign students have the opportunity to send applications to the following E-mail address: foreignstudent@ysu.am.
