About Faculty
The Faculty of Biology of Yerevan State University was founded in 1934, but the origins of its history begin from the very first day of the university's foundation. The faculty is one of the main scientific and educational centers for training specialists in various fields of biology in Armenia.
The faculty operates university research centers: the Center of Excellence for Applied Biology and the Innovative Center for Microbial Biotechnology and Biofuels. There is also a Research Institute of Biology, where scientific laboratories operate. The institute conducts scientific research mainly in molecular and cellular biology, molecular biophysics, membrane biophysics, biochemistry, botany and mycology, microbiology, microbial and plant biotechnology, human molecular genetics and cell genetics, genetic engineering, zoology and histology, human and animal higher nervous physiology, as well as in the direction of ecology and environmental protection of biocenoses.
