YSU Student Council is the representative, supreme self-governing elective body, that expresses the interests and rights of students, ensures the participation of students in the university management, promotes their educational, scientific, creative, physical, moral and spiritual development, and provides leisure and recreation time for students.
The main goals of the Students Council are:
a) to protect students’ interests and rights,
b) to ensure students' participation in university governance,
c) to address student-related issues to relevant university management units,
d) to take part in the development and implementation of the programs targeted at boosting the effectiveness of the academic process,
e) to inform students about their own rights and responsibilities, contribute to increasing legal awareness among students and forming an active civic attitude,
f) to unite the efforts of university student organizations, clubs and unions to contribute to the creation of a favorable environment for students and to promote the scientific, educational, spiritual, cultural, creative and physical development of students,
g) to support the improvement of students' social status, to provide leisure and recreation time,
h) to participate in maintaining internal discipline in YSU territory.
The Student Council was founded in 1994.
Since 2023 Khachik Abajyan has been the President of the YSU Student Council.
