Chair of Algebra and Geometry
In 1938, the Chairs of Geometry and Higher Algebra were established at YSU, headed by Academician A. Shahinyan and Professor Z. Khojanetyan, respectively.
In 1944, those two chairs were merged to form the Chair of Algebra and Geometry, which was headed by Honored Scientist N. Gasparyan, Associate Professor L. Matevosyan, E. Mirzakhanyan, and Professor Yu. Movsisyan.
The Chair implements Master's degree programs on "Algebra, Geometry", "Mathematics and Applications".
The scientific directions of the Chair are:
Group theory,
Algorithmic problems of algebra,
Superidentities and supermanifolds in algebra,
Covaries, bicovaries, Boolean and DeMorgan algebras,
Quasigroups, universal algebras and discrete mathematics,
Linear normed algebras,
G-spaces,
Algebraic topology,
Riemannian spaces,
Tangent stratifications.
Since the foundation of the Chair, outstanding scientists Z. Khojanetyan, T. Khachatryan, Ar. Chakmazyan, L. Matevosyan, V. Beglaryan, N. Galstyan, I. Zaslavsky, Ed. Mirzakhanyan, V. Kolyan, T. Danakyan, B. Yedigaryan, S. Dalalyan, A. Malkhasyan, A. Mashuryan, S. Antonyan, V. Martirosyan worked here.
