Chair of Cartography and Geomorphology

The Chair of Cartography and Geomorphology was founded in 1968 by Ph.D., Professor S. Balyan's efforts. The latter headed the Chair until 1997, and from 1997 to 2014, it was directed by Ph.D., Professor V. R. Boinagryan. Since 2014, the Chair has been led by Ph.D., Associate Professor P. G. Davtyan.

From the day of its establishment, the Chair was engaged in activities mainly in the following directions:

• Studies of geomorphological phenomena,

• Studies of relief format elements and making maps,

• Surveying,

• Cartography (map design, compilation).

Today, the Chair has expanded the scope of its research, and studies are carried out in the following directions:

• Unified cadaster, activity,

• Real estate measurement, accounting, assessment, cadaster management,

• Management, accounting, assessment of natural resources cadasters,

• Geodetic measurements, drawing up plans,

• Investigating and implementing GIS capabilities in sectoral disciplines,

• Agricultural and economic evaluation of lands,

• Efficient management of forest resources.

Highly experienced and leading specialists, who undergo regular training, teach at the Chair, are involved in international and local grant programs, and work together in production. Chair professors are authors of monographs, scientific articles, and educational manuals.

In the course of its activity, the Chair follows the requirements of the labor market and the profession, based on which it revises and improves the educational programs as needed. Regular meetings are organized between industry representatives, professors, and students.

The Chair of Cartography and Geomorphology implements "Cartography and cadastral work" (full-time and part-time) Undergraduate and Master's educational programs.
