From June 27 to 29 this year, Associate Professor Sargis Kelyan, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geology, along with Associate Professor Tigran Sargsyan, Candidate of Geological Sciences, Head of Service Chair at the same faculty, participated in a regional workshop of USAID (Agency for International Development educational programs on "Regional Water and Vulnerable Environment Activity." The workshop was held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, organized under the USAID "South Caucasus Regional Water Management" program.
During the workshop, S. Kelyan and T. Sargsyan presented the potential and utilization opportunities in the Faculty of Geography and Geology for comprehensive studies and management of water resources. They highlighted existing educational programs, courses, and the involvement of specialists in local and international research works.
Faculty representatives put forward proposals for regional scientific and educational cooperation. Specifically, they aim to develop a joint master's program on comprehensive water resources management with Georgian universities and conduct research focused on assessing and enhancing the socio-economic and recreational potential of urban water basins. These efforts are to be supported through a grant program under the Yerevan-Tbilisi cooperation format.
At the end of the workshop, concrete agreements were reached for the implementation of the mentioned ideas, the next steps and tasks were agreed upon.
