YSU Faculty of History recently hosted a lecture titled "Features of Georgia's Foreign Policy in the Modern Era", delving into the Euro-Atlantic directions of Georgia's foreign policy. The lecture was presented by Hasmik Meliksetyan, an expert on Georgian issues at the Orbeli Analytical Research Center.
The speaker emphasized the importance of the study, stating: "When we examine the course of history, especially Armenia-Georgia relations in different periods, the present years are sometimes overlooked. Without following current events, it becomes difficult to imagine and understand their future impact. In addition to historical knowledge, it is essential to simultaneously research events."
H. Meliksetyan also highlighted the need to build ties between Armenian and Georgian students, noting: "Students and youth are the driving force of change, and their exchange of experiences and perspectives can significantly influence the development of relationships and opinions. Relationship-building efforts should not only aim at strengthening bilateral ties but also at fostering discussions on global and regional issues. This will help young people better understand each other and build mutual understanding."
At the end of the lecture, representatives of the teaching staff and students from YSU Faculty of History had the opportunity to ask the speaker questions of particular interest. Topics such as the importance of stability in Georgia and the peaceful resolution of conflicts affecting Armenia were discussed.
The event was organized through the joint initiative of the Chair of History of Neighboring Countries of Armenia and the Center of Georgian Studies.
