The ceremony to award participants and winners of the republican student Olympiad, dedicated to the 225th anniversary of A. S. Pushkin, known as "The Sun of Russian Poetry", was held at the YSU Faculty of Russian Philology.
Diana Gazarova, Dean of the YSU Faculty of Russian Philology, delivered a welcoming speech at the event. She remarked, "Everyone has their own perception of Pushkin's poetry. For me, the essence of his works is life and light. Even when portraying the darkest scenes, hope remains ever-present. His poetry inspires us to live and move forward."
During the event organized by Vera Adamyan, a lecturer at the Chair of Russian Literature, students from the YSU Faculty of Russian Philology presented the life and literary heritage of the poet. They discussed how and when Armenian readers first discovered Pushkin. The students recited Pushkin's poems in both the original Russian and Armenian translation, and performed several romances based on his works.
The event concluded with the awarding ceremony for the Olympiad prize winners. This year saw an impressive number of applications, with students from 14 Armenian universities participating.
The jury selected 50 laureates across various categories. Colleagues from Moscow also attended the ceremony. Varvara Filippova from the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute remarked, "I haven't read such a well-written Russian works in a long time. Choosing the winners was challenging because each work deserved a high score."
There were six winners of the Olympiad: three from non-professional backgrounds and three from philological faculties. In addition to receiving gifts and certificates, the future philologists had the opportunity to participate in training at the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.
The event was attended by Denis Nazarov, attaché of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, Victoria Derepasko, Deputy Director of the Russian House in Armenia, and Vagharshak Madoyan, executive director of the Alumni Association of USSR Universities.
