Public Administration
Bachelor's degree programme
About the program
"Public Administration" (Bachelor of Administration qualification is granted) has been launched at YSU since the 2007/2008 academic year. The Bachelor's degree program was developed in partnership with Arizona State University. One of the innovative aspects of the program is the predominance of political science, economics, sociology, and law courses in the curriculum, which gives the program an interdisciplinary character and is of key importance for training future specialists in the field.
Admission requirements
Admission to the "Management" specialty is based on the results of entrance exams focused on the "Armenian Language and Literature" ("Foreign Language") and "Armenian History". Applicants with secondary and secondary vocational education can take part in the entrance exams.
The aim of the program
The educational program aims to
- Form the necessary foundation of professional abilities and skills among students in the fields of fundamental principles of public and civil service, the structure of the management system, operational features, and institutional procedures,
- Ensure the formation of analytical abilities in the fields of various management systems, activity priority planning, and function implementation of administrative and political structures,
- Prepare qualified specialists for the implementation of administrative functions in the public and local self-government spheres, forming the professional abilities appropriate for occupying managerial (administrative) positions in public organizations,
- Promote the professional development of the graduates of the program and the formation of the necessary professional orientation as the main actors in the public and local self-government spheres.
Advantages
Proportional and harmonious representation of the professional modules underlying the "Public Administration" specialty were used when developing the educational program. Along with that, the program priorities of the European universities participating in the "EU TEMPUS PICASA" program of internationalization of higher education served as a program guide in the educational program, especially in the self-government component. The NQF, as well as other YSU benchmarks, were adopted as the basis of the program standard.
Career opportunities
Upon receiving a Bachelor's degree in management, the graduates work in RA state and local self-government bodies, in the public service system (civil, special, and community service positions), in permanent agencies established by RA laws (committees, services, councils), as well as in the staffs of the state bodies under the RA Government.
