Chair of Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Informatics
The Chair of Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Informatics was established in 2006 based on the Chairs of Discrete Mathematics and Algebraic Methods of Informatics.
Distinguished scientists I. Zaslavsky, H. Maranjyan, and S. Markosyan made a great contribution to the formation and the scientific interest development of the Chair.
Well-known and high-ranking specialists of the republic teach at the Chair, who have been and are still involved in grant programs and have authored educational manuals, university textbooks, and scientific articles published in prestigious scientific periodicals.
Since 2020, the head of the Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Informatics Chair has been Associate Professor Petros Petrosyan.
The main scientific directions of the Chair are:
Discrete math,
Discrete extremal problems,
Applied algebra,
Graph theory,
Design of large integrated circuits,
Boolean function theory,
Algebraic coding theory,
Theory of algorithms,
Mathematical logic,
Complexity theory,
Approximate algorithms,
Action research,
Cryptography, etc.
The Chair implements the "Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Informatics" Master's degree educational program.
