Mercenaries and Regional Security Dynamics

The research program "Mercenaries and the Regional security dynamics" is aimed to analyze the mercenaries’ role and influence on the regional security dynamics and to identify common patterns in the activities of actors who use the services of mercenaries and militants to achieve their goals. Examination of mercenaries, militants, their sponsors and their activities in Syria, Libya and Artsakh will help to identify specific algorithms, the analysis of which allows us to find the "weak points" in the process of recruitment, transfer and control over such groups. During the implementation of this project, the research team will identify opportunities to influence the existing threats to regional and national security posed by mercenaries and militants, as well as their sponsors.
