It is planned to investigate open resonators, in which the electromagnetic field is mainly outside the rod. The quality and resonant frequency of the proposed resonator are essentially dependent on the dielectric characteristics of the medium surrounding the rod. It creates a wide opportunity to investigate the microwave properties of various sensors and environments. In addition, a resonator connected to a continuous or discontinuous radial surface wave propagation line can serve as a cut-off /reject/ filter. So that by means of external fields, in particular, electromagnetic radiation, by changing the dielectric permeability or conductivity of the medium, it is possible to control the signal propagating along the line.
